bfpc can offer direct professional facilitator training in the STOP programme and FLASH programme We can also offer a 3 day groups skills core training.

Training packages can also be tailored to meet you staff teams need, we have many years experience in working in the family and parenting field. Examples might include understanding and using genograms (family trees), an introduction to teenage brain development or how to respond in difficult situations. The below training has now finished and the attendees are off delivering the STOP programme already.

Bfpc is offering STOP training on 12nd, 19rd & 26th January 2016

Cost: £250 per professional, spaces limited to 10 applicants. On completion each trainee will receive a STOP manual, which includes a CD, and contains all the material you will need to deliver a STOP group programme to parents.                                                            A light lunch and refreshments will be provided.

STOP Training

Duration – 3 Days

Price – on application, (maximum of 20 trainees)
For professionals working with parents of children ages 11- 16 years.

The programme aims to give parents a greater understanding about the developmental process of their teenage child. Sessions include the following topics; Alcohol, Conflict & Aggression, Sex & Relationships, Praise & Encouragement, Setting the Limits and much more.

To become a STOP trainer each facilitator will have to attend the 3 day STOP training. (It is also highly recommended that a Group Facilitation Skills Training course is also completed; however this is not obligatory).

The 3 day STOP training programme examines the underlying ethos and objectives of the STOP programme on a week-by-week basis. Practitioners are taken through the entire programme in chronological order, to provide a basic level of knowledge and skill that they can reflect upon when facilitating their own group. This includes possible difficulties, experiential scenarios and the opportunity for open discussion around the minutiae of running the STOP programme in practical terms. All course attendees are provided with their own STOP manual and corresponding CD.

 

FLASH Training

‘Families Learning About Self-Harm’

FLASH is a ten week parent group programme for parents of a young person who is exhibiting self-harming behaviour and this behaviour is having an impact on the whole family. This multi-agency training course aims to give professionals, in detail, the values and key principles and delivery content of the programme.

This will enable course participants to: 

  • Have a wider knowledge, awareness and understanding of self-harm behaviours in young people.
  • Understand the basic approaches for implementing a FLASH parenting group programme.
  • Provide practical strategies for parents.
  • To become a FLASH trainer each facilitator will have to attend the 3 day FLASH training. (It is also highly recommended that a Group Facilitation Skills Training course is also completed; however this is not obligatory).

  • To help you get more out of your facilitator role.

This course addresses many aspects of the complex activity known as facilitation. From getting groups started and finished, to dealing with conflict: We look at practicalities of session design and underlying ethical issues.

This experiential course is structured to include theoretical inputs, group work and reflections on the experience generated within the group. Participants are expected to attend all sessions of the course, as commitment from participants will be vital for the success of the course.

You can expect to come out of the course with greater levels of confidence, skills, knowledge of how groups and their members work and ideas for working practically with groups.
